Outline Description of Module
This module focuses on consolidating Translation skills, both translating written and oral examples of contemporary French into English and translating from English into French.
On completion of the module a student should be able to
- Efficiently translate passages from French into English and from English into French
- Master complex grammatical structures in French and English
- Recognise different text types and analyse them clearly and accurately
How the module will be delivered
1 contact hour per week:
1 hour translation seminar, alternate weeks French into English and English into French

- Translation skills at professional level
- Writing skills including a thorough command of syntactical and lexical structures
- Research skills relating to linguistic and cultural context

Written Translation Coursework - 60% - Semester A and Semester S
